Founder

Tenzing Sherpa

Tenzing Sherpa is a Founder of N.P. Rugs Industries, established in year 1991 immediate after completing graduation in Civil Engineering from Mysore University, Karnataka, India. He started his business on principles of dignity. Over the years his idea has grown into a network of above 1000 artisans across Nepal with common philosophy of responsible Manufacturing.

N.P. Rugs is the collaborative effort of above 1000 artisans starting from Hand carding process of wool, yarn spinning, Rug weaving to final finishing touch of the rug, the result of all those diverse and individual contributions is a Hand-knotted Rug that will last for generations. Ever since we founded N.P. Rugs in 1991, we have endeavoured to create the most desirable Rugs in the world. Uniquely, we achieve this by combining the ancient craft of Rug making with the very experience and talented artisans. Our Rugs are beautiful, distinctive and original.

Besides Himalayan wool, we also use other materials like New Zealand wool, Pashmina, Chinese Silk, Bamboo, Nettle, Hemp, Linen etc... as per customers' demand. We offer both a wide selection of in-stock Rugs and wholesale service all around the world. More

The carded wool is twisted and rolled on a wheel "Charkha" manually to form a yarn. We spin yarn size as per knots of the Rugs.The more higher knots, more thinner yarn will be spun. The hand spun yarn have the quality and texture of their own which we donÂ’t find in machine spun yarn. More

All our Rugs are woven in Traditional Tibetan style of knots. Our weavers are trained to weave each Rugs with precision. They carefully look at the graph which is hung above them to weave each knots of the Rug. Diameter of steel rods depends upon thickness of the Rug. More
